RubyFrost Apple Crumb Bars

Ingredients

  • CRUST INGREDIENTS -
  • Butter, melted - 6 Tbsp
  • Graham crackers, blended - 1 1/4 cups
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • FILLING INGREDIENTS -
  • RubyFrost apples, sliced - 3
  • Brown Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Butter - 4 Tbsp
  • Apple Pie Spice (ginger, cinn., nutmeg, and clove) -
  • Arrowroot (to thicken) - 1 tsp
  • CRUMB TOPPING INGREDIENTS -
  • Flour - 1 cup
  • Cane Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Melted Butter - 6 Tbsp
  • Cinnamon - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse the graham crackers and sugar together until very very fine. Melt the butter and pour the butter and graham cracker mixture into a large bowl and mix together until it forms a thick mixture. Press the graham cracker crust into a 9x9 pan and let sit in the fridge for 40-50 minutes or until fully set.
  2. Meanwhile, finely chop the apples and add to a medium frying pan with the melted butter. Sauté the apples until soft then add the brown sugar, arrowroot, and apple pie spice. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let cook until thick.
  3. For the topping: take the melted butter, cane and brown sugar and combine. Add the flour and mix until it becomes a “crumble”.
  4. Once the graham cracker crust has set, pour the apples into the crust. Spread the apples around to distribute evenly. Sprinkle the crumb on top of the apples then bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cool for one hour on the counter, then an additional hour in the fridge to let the bars set before slicing.
